Dennis, In my previous post, you helped me call the helpProvider to render the Table of Contents from the .CHM file produced with Dr. Explain. The next step for me is to call the helpProvider with the HH_DISPLAY_TOPIC, HH_DISPLAY_SEARCH, or HH_HELP_CONTEXT commands and hopefully a "seed" string which will render context sensitive help. Can the htmlHelp function do this on its own with the string keywords and topics entered in Dr. Explain, or do I need to maintain a separate dictionary of keyword strings in my own code? It looks to me like an alternate htmlHelp signature would be required in order to pass in the keyword string.

If you want to open topic using HtmlHelp API using HH_HELP_CONTEXT with correct Help ID and you get error

or CHM file doesn't open at the correct topic, you should check that you have set valid alias for that topic (look at the picture attached).

In short, you must set alias if you want to open topic by its Help ID, even if you aren't going to use this alias in your application. Using "Alias auto-assign" or mass-assigning aliases to all topics in project could simplify this task (open Help ID Management settings dialog using menu Options->Project Settings and going to tab CHM export->Help ID Management).

Search tab does not work in CHM

Usually after you create CHM file, open Search tab, type word and hit Enter key, there is a list of topics containing this word is shown. But sometimes there is "No topics found." message is shown, though you know that the word you typeddoes exist in CHM.
To fix this bug you can:

Uninstall Microsoft HTML Help Workshop, download latest version from "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms669985.aspx" and install it. Ignore message "This computer already has a newer version of HTML Help." if one is shown. Re-export project toCHM.
If it doesn't help, you should check CHM language in Project settings->CHM export->File settings->Language. Re-export project toCHM.
Finally, if nothing helps, open Control panel->Regional and language settings and setup proper system locale for non-Unicode programs.

To add custom images to HTML pages, put them into destination folder(Path field ) and in text editor insertHTML snippet which links to each custom image.Example:

To add custom images to compiled HTML Help aka CHM, do the same but first set theWork folder and put images to this work folder.
To add custom CSS, you can do one of the following:

OpenCHM export settings orHTML export settings and enable "Use custom CSS" radio button. Append your CSS code to the end or modify entire custom CSSappropriately.
- OR -
Put your CSS file to the destination folder (HTML export) or work folder (CHM export) and link to this file inHTML Template & Layout settings

Hello.
This might not be obvious, but you can click "Pre-HTML", "Pre-Body, Inside Head tag", "Header", "Left Sidebar", "Navigation Bar|Topic Content", "Right Sidebar", "Footer", "Post-HTML" buttons to see each area's settings.
HTML Layout & Template settings for HTML export and CHM export are different. On the second image HTML Layout & Template settings for HTML export are presented. Current help file for Dr.Explain does not mention this difference. We're updating our help file to correspond user interface and it will be available in one of the future releases.

I've sent a special demo key to you via PM system. This key will be valid for 3 days. It unlocks all Advanced functions but it still keeps watermarks on images.

I hope this will help you to evaluate all functions of the software.

Here is the solution for everyone:

To hide Dr.Explain link in HTML\CHM:
- Click Project Settings tool button.
- Select HTML (CHM) Export section
- Click HTML Template & Layout : Setup button.
- Click Navigation Bar section in the left part of the dialog.
- Check "Hide the Dr.Explain link". (Available in registered versions only)
- OK\OK

Hello.
Put caret before the first symbol inside the first cell (leftmost topmost cell) in the table and press left arrow key. Caret should be right before the table. Press "center align" button in the editor toolbar. Table should become centered. Refer to the screenshot attached.

Hello.
This means that file with name "index.htm" cannot be written to the export folder. This might happen because this file

has Read only attribute,
is opened by another application when you're doing export from Dr.Explain,
cannot be overwritten by user account you used to launch Dr.Explain,
is actually a folder, not a file

I suggest to delete entire folder you're doing export to and then run HTML export from Dr.Explain again. E.g. if you're exporting to "C:\help files\documentation", you should delete folder "C:\help files\documentation" with all its contents and run HTML export again.

So if I understood correctly,
I have to add filters to avoid items that I don't need.
OK I got the idea. (I think )
But why when I tried to delete some of the filters was still capturing the items?
And the filters I add, is it matter if I list them on top or the bottom of list?
