Capturing screenshots

Window screenshot pages are special pages of your help file. Each screenshot page describes a window of your application together with its controls.
The main advantage of Dr.Explain is its ability to automatically analyze the structure of captured windows  and recognize its control elements. Dr.Explain automatically assigns numbered callouts to each control on the screenshot, creates labels and places them onto the screenshot.

Dr.Explain makes linked references for every control. You only need to add explanatory text where required. This semi-automated method saves lots of time when you need to add annotated screenshots to your help file or references to technical illustrations.

To add a new screenshot to the project, select a parent node in the tree and click the Capture Window button in the application toolbar.

You can rename the screenshot page in the tree by clicking on it or in the Title field of the properties pane.

You can also rearrange pages by dragging and moving them across the project tree. Use the Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down keyboard shortcuts to change the order of sibling pages within a section.

You can exclude (hide) the node from the output by selecting the node and pressing Delete key.

To manage control references and numbered tags, double-click the screenshot image to switch to Designer mode.
