Capturing screenshots

Window screenshot pages are special pages of your help file. Each screenshot page describes a window of your software application along with its window's controls.
The main advantage of the Dr.Explain software is its ability to automatically analyze the structure of captured windows and to recognize its controls: buttons, text fields, drop down lists, sliders, spins, and so on. The Dr.Explain automatically assigns numbered callouts to each control on the screen shot, creates labels and positions them on the screenshot.

The Dr.Explain makes linked references for every control. You only need to add some explanatory text where required. This semi-automated methods saves lots of time when you need to add annotated screenshots to your help file or to add references to technical illustrations.

To add a new screenshot to the project select a parent node in the tree and click Capture Window button in the application toolbar.

You may rename the screenshot page in the tree by clicking it or in the Title field of the properties pane.

You may also rearrange pages by dragging and moving them across the project tree. Use Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down keyboard shortcuts to change the order of sibling pages within a section.

You may also exclude (hide) the node from the output by selecting the node and pressing Delete key.

To manage control references and numbered tags just double click on the screenshot image to switch into the Designer mode.
