Full version advantages

Free restricted license

The free restricted license allows you to create projects of a limited size (20 topics). So you may try all the capabilities of Dr.Explain for free. There is no time limit: you can use free restricted license for as long as you need.

Documents created with a free restricted  license can be edited in a copy registered with a full license, there is no need to redo them from scratch.

With a free restricted license, all output images are watermarked. Some productivity boost functions are also locked. A full paid license key is required to remove image watermarks and unlock protected functions.

Licensing model

Dr.Explain is licensed under a per-user model.

There are two options:

1. One year (365 days) license.
The Premium maintenance and free updates within one year are included.

2. Perpetual license for the current major version (v.6) only.
All minor updates (e.g. 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, etc.) are free. Major updates (e.g. 6.x to 7.0) may be paid for those who ordered a license more than 12 months prior to the release of the major update.

There are two types of licenses: Home and Business.

The Home (paid) license provides access to the extended functionality of the program; however, when using this license, files saved with Dr.Explain with an Ultima license cannot be opened for editing, and the "Made in Dr.Explain" marking cannot be removed.

With Business (paid) license you can use all functions of Dr.Explain to create, edit, and export help projects in any supported format without watermarks. and the license also allows multiple Dr.Explain users to work together on the same  projects via the cloud service Tiwri.com or Local Collaboration Server.

The following table lists the difference between the Free, Home, Business licenses of Dr.Explain:
